Thanosshirt – I’m German I Could Get On Your Level But I Don’t Like Being On my Knees As much As You do Shirt

 I thought the riots and protests of last summer have wisened us all, that they were a learning experience, as Oprah herself would put it. Hadn’t we all understood racism isn’t active hate, it’s more of an invisible tide everybody’s wading through, holding some of us back? I want Britain to be better than this. I’m not sure where we go from here.

It’s the plausible deniability of racism (“I didn’t use racist words, your honor”) that’s leaving me miserable. Millions of us can see the racist undertones in the Markle tale, the palpable prejudice is looking us square in the face but it’s being denied across the board. I have the sinking realization that there’s a world outside our bubble that can’t abide Black success, can’t quite let it flourish. That no matter how far we climb (marrying a prince, for Christ’s sake!), we still have work to do. Was it so long ago that Meghan’s mother taught us all a lesson in quiet dignity at her daughter’s wedding? How did this so quickly become ancient history?
